Referral service, not a contractor. Prevent Home Leaks does not perform plumbing, leak repair, or water damage restoration. Calls to (855) 555-0100 are connected to an independent, licensed local provider, who may pay us for the referral. Always confirm the provider's license and get a written estimate. How this works
Water leak emergency: what to do now
- Shut off the water. Use the fixture valve if the leak is at one fixture, otherwise the main shutoff.
- Stay safe around electricity. Don't enter standing water near outlets or appliances. Cut power at the panel only from a dry spot.
- Move valuables and electronics out of the wet area.
- Photograph everything before cleanup, for insurance.
- Start drying: mop and towel up water, and use fans if it's safe.
Who should you call?
- Plumber: to find and repair the leak itself.
- Water damage restoration company: when water has soaked flooring, walls, ceilings, or insulation, or it's sewage. Fast professional drying helps limit mold growth, and restoration firms usually document moisture for your insurer.
Our number can connect you to either. Tell the operator what's wet and whether the leak has been stopped.
