Why is my dishwasher leaking?
Turn off power to the dishwasher (breaker) and its water supply before inspecting underneath.
Common causes
- Door gasket: cracked or dirty seals. Clean it, and replace it if damaged.
- Wrong detergent: regular dish soap creates suds that push water out of the door.
- Not level: water pools toward the door. Adjust the feet.
- Drain hose: loose clamp at the sink drain or disposal, or a cracked hose.
- Supply connection: a loose fitting at the inlet valve behind the toe kick.
- Clogged filter or drain, causing overflow.
Prevent damage
- Put a leak sensor under the sink next to the dishwasher.
- Check for swelling or soft flooring in front of the unit, which is a sign of a long-running leak.
